Combining the thrill of live cooking with award-winning design
Food Matters Live is one of the UK’s biggest forums for the food and drink industry, and their live events allow some of the nation’s leading producers to showcase their latest innovations. We developed an award-winning stand for Kerry Foods, who produce over 18,000 food and drink items and ingredients around the world.
Kerry wanted their stand to feel like a chic but friendly café – the kind you might find on your local high street. And, we only had two days to build it, all while making sure that it was safe and compliant for food production throughout the event.
Kerry’s brand proposition was fairly colourful at the time, so we introduced splashes of colour where we could – including lush purple carpet, panels with eye-catching graphics and coloured wooden rails in the ceiling. The coloured rails were fitted with LEDs to make the stand more dynamic and bring even more light in. We then incorporated wooden finishes to bring the space that modern café feel.
We developed a fully functioning kitchen area for live demonstrations, with plenty of discussion areas for people to sit back and watch. Everything was shown on the big screen at the back thanks to overhead cameras fitted to our lighting frames. A private meeting room for VIP prospects and customers was required, so we kept it hidden behind a ‘kitchen’ door with a porthole. Finally, we added interactive areas with tablets for people to explore Kerry’s products, and a large backlit sign with the Kerry branding.
There were some elements of the design that we simplified in order to make sure we could deliver the project in the short time frame that we had. For example, the tiled backdrop was a graphic made to look like 3D tiles, rather than a bespoke tiled finish. We also made sure our build phase was as tight and efficient as possible, allowing chefs to come and test the equipment.
The team at Kerry were thrilled with our creation, saying it was the best stand they’d ever had. And, as one of the largest stands at Food Matters Live, it made a real impact, winning [AWARD NAME] at the World Exhibition Stand Awards.
